About This Position
Manager, IT Shared Services
MANAGER, IT SHARED SERVICES
THE COMPANY:
STACK INFRASTRUCTURE (STACK) provides digital infrastructure to scale the world's most innovative companies. We are an award-winning industry leader in building, owning, and operating highly efficient, cost-effective wholesale, colocation, and cloud data centers. Each of our national facilities meets or exceeds the highest industry standards in all operational categories of availability, security, connectivity, and physical resilience.
STACK offers the scale and geographic reach that rapidly growing hyperscale and enterprise companies need. The world runs on data. Data runs on STACK.
THE POSITION:
STACK is seeking a Manager, IT Shared Services, to lead capacity planning, demand governance, and team performance for shared Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) and Support Analysts across IT (Americas).
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, this is a newly created leadership role designed to help STACK scale. As the business grows and demand for enterprise systems increases, we need a strong operational leader to bring structure, transparency, and accountability to how work is prioritized and delivered.
Your mandate is to bring structure, clarity, and accountability to how work maneuvers through the team - ensuring the right resources are focused on the highest-value initiatives at the right time
If you thrive in environments where you can build clarity out of complexity, protect technical teams from chaos, and ensure the right work gets done at the right time - this role is for you. This role requires a confident operational leader who can manage technical contributors without micromanaging them. This role ensures their time and effort are aligned to corporate priorities. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead Capacity & Demand Management
- Own resource allocation and capacity planning for shared BSAs
- Develop clear visibility into utilization, backlog, and demand pipeline
- Facilitate prioritization cadences aligned to business objectives
- Balance competing priorities and escalate trade-offs when necessary
- Maintain dashboards that provide transparency across IT leadership
Build Operational Discipline
- Define, implement, and enforce standardized intake processes
- Improve prioritization clarity and reduce scope creep
- Drive reporting transparency and continuous process improvement
- Establish a scalable service delivery model to support company growth
Lead & Develop the Team
- Directly manage and mentor a growing team of Business Systems Analysts
- Support onboarding and performance management
- Set clear expectations and boundaries
- Protect team focus while maintaining strong internal service levels
What Success Looks Like in Year One
- Intake and prioritization are standardized and documented
- Resource allocation is transparent and data-driven
- Confusion around ownership and sequencing is materially reduced
- The BSA and Support teams operates with clear boundaries and balanced workloads
- The Director of Enterprise Applications is freed to focus on strategic roadmap and quality initiatives
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT:
- Product ownership or stakeholder consulting (BSAs do that)
- Technical architecture, systems administration, or solution design
- Vendor/contract management
- Procurement or global operating model strategy
The focus is on capacity, process, prioritization, and team management. Business Systems Analysts own stakeholder engagement and solution design. Support Analysts provide first-line functional support for core enterprise systems and ensure high-quality service delivery. This role ensures their time and effort are aligned to corporate priorities.
THE DETAILS:
- Location: Denver, Colorado
- Travel: 10%
- Compensation: $145,000 - $165,000
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must pass comprehensive background and drug screening
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in IT operations, service delivery, engineering operations, or similar leadership role
- 3+ years of direct people management experience (technical or analytical professionals preferred)
- Proven ability to manage competing stakeholder demands and escalate trade-offs appropriately
- Demonstrated experience owning capacity planning and resource allocation
- Experience operating in a matrixed, cross-functional IT environment
- Experience building and maintaining operational dashboards or performance reporting
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or Technical Project Manager
- Experience in SOX-controlled environments
- Experience supporting growth-stage organizations
THIS MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:
- You excel at balancing priorities and managing stakeholder expectations, making allocation decisions when resources are limited.
- You prefer enhancing systems and processes rather than focusing on technical details.
- You diplomatically push back when work doesn't align with established priorities and value operational discipline with measurable results.
- You enjoy bringing structure to reactive or ambiguous environments and thrive in organizations where processes are evolving.
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF …
- You prefer hands-on system configuration, coding, or solution design work.
- You want to own product strategy or define technical architecture.
- You avoid difficult prioritization decisions or stakeholder conflict.
- You're uncomfortable enforcing process or holding others accountable.
- You need clearly defined, static processes rather than shaping them.
- You want a purely strategic role without day-to-day operational ownership.
WHY STACK?
- We offer a competitive compensation package with strong benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K program, flexible spending accounts – even a cell phone subsidy.
- We foster a culture of appreciation, including peer-to-peer recognition and rewards programs.
- Fun is part of our DNA, with events, game nights, happy hours, and barbecues.
- We're growing – this is a great time to join and make an impact!
