The OTP Nurse Supervisor manages the Mobile Narcotic Treatment Program (MNTP) and supports the Program Director in overseeing medical services across Janus of Santa Cruz OTP Clinics. This role provides clinical leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, supports staff development, and promotes high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesI. Clinical Duties
  • Fully manage the Mobile Narcotic Treatment Program (MNTP), including staffing, daily operations, and regulatory reporting
  • Maintain nursing schedules for both the main OTP clinic and MNTP
  • Ensure operational continuity during dispensing staff absences using on-call staff or self-dispensing as needed
  • Coordinate nursing staff to ensure completion of assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Review medical records from external facilities and address health or medication issues
  • Dispense methadone using both electronic health records (EHR) and manual operating systems
  • Train new nursing staff in EHR and manual dispensing systems
  • Coordinate courtesy coverage, patient transfers, and dosing exceptions
  • Coordinate dosing services for sequestered patients (e.g., SNF, jail), including medication delivery as needed
  • Enter patient data related to dose changes, step levels, and exceptions
  • Conduct daily assessments of new patients for withdrawal or sedation and adjust dosing accordingly
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Director to implement effective patient care outcomes
II. Administrative Duties
  • Accurately complete and submit all required administrative reports
  • Assist with weekly and monthly program reports
  • Complete monthly bottle variance reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure timely, accurate clinical documentation
  • Ensure medical staff complete all required reports and documentation
  • Maintain compliance with Title 9, Title 22, CARF, DEA, and SAMHSA regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinical records and privileged information
  • Order methadone and medical supplies as needed
  • Uphold and protect patient human rights
  • Review and respond to all Medical Incident Reports
III. Personnel Management & Support
  • Assist the Program Director with personnel issues related to medical and floor staff
  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of medical staff
  • Complete staff evaluations and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Define staff responsibilities and performance expectations through formal job descriptions
  • Participate in weekly Leadership Team meetings and projects
  • Ensure new medical staff are fully oriented to Janus’ mission, policies, and program protocols
  • Ensure timely and respectful responses to patient concerns
  • Manage emergency staffing issues as they arise
  • Provide regular supervision, professional guidance, feedback, and performance support
  • Support staff training, professional growth, and advancement
  • Foster a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
IV. General Program Responsibilities
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and provide reports as directed
  • Participate in supervision and individual meetings with the Program Director
  • Communicate staff achievements and program concerns to leadership
  • Maintain a safe, professional work environment for patients and staff
  • Follow all Janus policies, procedures, and safety protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned
V. Health & Safety
  • Ensure universal precautions and infection control practices are followed
  • Chair the Clinic Health & Safety Committee and oversee compliance with licensing and CARF requirements
  • Maintain meeting minutes and report safety concerns to the Program Director
  • Participate in Agency Health & Safety Committee as assigned
VI. Additional Responsibilities
  • Ensure clinic equipment is properly maintained and arrange repairs as needed
  • Assume additional responsibilities consistent with clinic needs and role scope
  • Attend all required trainings and administrative meetings
  • Maintain current CPR and professional licenses/certifications
  • Drive as required to attend trainings, meetings, or fulfill program responsibilities
Requirements:

Qualifications
  • Active California RN or LVN license
  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment strongly preferred
  • Three (3) years of methadone dispensing experience preferred
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in a similar setting
  • Strong understanding of methadone pharmacology and physiological effects
  • Working knowledge of Title 9, Title 22, CARF, DEA, and SAMHSA regulations preferred

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers and complete documentation accurately
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands
Credentials Required
  • Active California LVN or RN license
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid certification
