Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree is required
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• A genuine passion for working with educational programs designed for disadvantaged youth in communities with low-income, first-generation high school students is essential
• Proficiency in Microsoft software applications is also advised

What You Will Do
- The primary responsibilities of a Counselor/Tutor - TRIO Upward Bound is to provide comprehensive academic, career, and personal guidance to be eligible for high school participants in support of their preparation for postsecondary education.
- This role delivers individualized and group-based tutoring, counseling, and instructional support designed to help students overcome academic, social, and personal barriers to success.
- The Counselor/Tutor - TRIO Upward Bound assists students with college readiness activities including admissions planning, financial aid and FAFSA guidance, career exploration, and development of essential academic and life skills.
- The position requires the ability and willingness to instruct and support students across all core academic content areas - mathematics, science, English, and social studies - to ensure participants are adequately prepared for the rigor of postsecondary coursework.
- In addition, the Counselor/Tutor - TRIO Upward Bound serves as a classroom instructor as assigned and is responsible for collecting, verifying, and submitting required documentation to ensure student stipends are accurately completed, processed, and disbursed in accordance with program and institutional guidelines.
