Dwyer Workforce Development (DWD) is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to drive grassroots engagement, build partnerships, and support aspiring healthcare professionals—our Dwyer Scholars—on their path to career success. Based in Chicago, this role offers the chance to be a visible, connected leader who brings people and purpose together in the name of progress.

Who We Are:
At DWD, our mission is to provide comprehensive support to individuals who seek career opportunities in healthcare, while helping alleviate critical workforce shortages and enhancing the lives of patients in assisted living, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals across the communities we serve. We offer a holistic approach to job training and placement for individuals who lack opportunity and aspire to pursue a rewarding career in the healthcare industry.

What You’ll Do:
The Community Engagement Coordinator builds, manages, and sustains strong relationships with community organizations, nonprofits, faith-based groups, referral and training partners, government entities, funders, and healthcare providers. This remote position supports DWD’s mission by expanding access to services, generating pipelines of prospective Dwyer Scholars, and strengthening partnerships that promote successful training and employment outcomes.
This role requires a highly self-motivated individual who can work independently, manage time
effectively, and prioritize responsibilities while operating remotely. The Community Engagement
Coordinator must maintain regular availability and collaboration in alignment with DWD headquarters’ business hours.
The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in partnership development, project and events management, communications, and community outreach, along with a passion for expanding opportunity and improving the lives of seniors and underserved populations.

• Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of DWD’s mission, vision, programs, and philosophy.
• Build and sustain relationships with community-based organizations, nonprofits, training and referral partners, associations, and healthcare providers to support Dwyer Scholars.
• Generate, cultivate, and manage pipelines of prospective Dwyer Scholars through community outreach and partnerships.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for local stakeholders on behalf of DWD.
• Act as a knowledge resource for community services and funding sources, with a focus on workforce development, health and wellness, childcare, and emergency or essential services.
• Plan, coordinate, and support community engagement activities, meetings, and events for scholars, partners, and providers—both in-person and virtual.
• Represent DWD in community forums including meetings, conferences, job fairs, resource fairs, and virtual engagements.
• Set community engagement goals and independently manage programs and events in close coordination with DWD corporate team members.
• Identify potential funding opportunities and support grant-related content for local initiatives; maintain assigned funding relationships.
• Track activities, outcomes, and partnerships using multiple systems, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
• Work closely with the regional Case Manager or Service Navigator to support scholar employment outcomes.
• Conduct bi-weekly meetings with provider partners and serve as a liaison between providers and Case Managers.
• Effectively manage a remote work schedule, ensuring responsiveness, accountability, and collaboration during DWD headquarters’ standard operating hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:
Our ideal candidate will have a successful track record in partnership development, partner and project management, event logistics, and communications, plus a genuine passion for helping those who lack opportunity and improving the lives of seniors. Experience in the Chicago area is preferred.

• A natural relationship-builder with 3+ years of experience in community engagement, outreach, senior services, or workforce development.
• A strong communicator who’s energized by public speaking and presenting.
• Organized, adaptable, and motivated to make a difference every day.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Public Affairs, Communications, Business, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment, with strong time-management, organization, and self-accountability skills.
• High degree of judgment and discretion with the ability to determine the most effective course of action to benefit DWD and its scholars.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
• Experienced with CRM tools required, Salesforce (a plus!).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, while maintaining core availability aligned with DWD headquarters’ hours.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.
• Willingness and ability to travel within regions where DWD operates – including Chicago territory.
