About the Role:
CrowdStrike's expanding AI Innovation team is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to prototype new AI-driven security capabilities, particularly in Cloud security. This role involves defining the technical vision, driving strategic research, and architecting scalable, AI-native systems. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of security products that fundamentally enhance our cybersecurity platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in building production-ready AI-first solutions, combining extreme technical self-sufficiency with the personal ability to reach across the organization to drive momentum. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering, AI/ML Innovation.
What You'll Do:
Lead the development of innovative AI-native systems from concept to prototype.
Design and implement advanced machine learning models, with a focus on modern NLP and GenAI technologies.
Drive deep technical collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and Research teams to translate ambiguous business challenges into high-impact, scalable AI solutions.
Drive the model development process through all stages, from initial research to production-ready implementations.
Work closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth integration of AI models into production environments.
Stay current with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, particularly in the field of cybersecurity.
Act as a domain expert and mentor for other engineers and data scientists, raising the bar for AI engineering and innovation across the organization.
What You'll Need:
10+ years of hands-on experience in building complex AI-driven solutions in cybersecurity.
Demonstrated experience in building and launching AI-native solutions from scratch.
Demonstrated experience in launching innovative solutions in an enterprise environment.
Deep understanding of ML Engineering practices and the full lifecycle of model development.
Deep technical expertise in areas including, but not limited to, Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, and Machine Learning (ML).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer in a leading technology company.
Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

CrowdStrike, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location. The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $195,000 - $290,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k and paid time off.For detailed information about the U.S. benefits package, please click here.
