nou Systems, Inc. (nSI) is now officially a 100% ESOP company! We value teamwork and collaboration, and this transition allows us to take that commitment to a new level. nSI empowers our customers by supplying products, services, and expertise with powerful, data driven insights that transform defense systems and improve capabilities.

nou Systems, Inc. (nSI) is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Army Ronald Reagan Space and Missile Test Range (RTR). RTR supports critical missile and space operations through a highly distributed architecture of radar, telemetry, optical, communications, and mission control capabilities that must work together seamlessly to meet demanding mission objectives.

While the Range Contractor executes day-to-day operations, nSI engineers work alongside RTR leadership, the Range Contractor, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory (MIT/LL) to ensure range capabilities remain mission-ready, interoperable, and aligned to evolving requirements. The successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise across operational and modernization efforts, helping assess readiness, identify risks, and guide technical decisions that improve performance across the range enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a systems engineering resource supporting RTR leadership across mission planning, readiness assessment, and capability integration activities.
  • Evaluate system performance, interfaces, and dependencies across radar, optical, telemetry, communications, and command-and-control systems.
  • Support development, refinement, and traceability of technical requirements for mission operations and modernization initiatives.
  • Perform technical assessments, trade studies, and risk analyses to inform engineering decisions and investment priorities.
  • Help ensure mission systems are configured, integrated, and prepared to meet operational requirements.
  • Support mission planning, execution, and post-mission review activities with a focus on system-level performance and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate across government, contractor, and laboratory stakeholders to resolve technical issues and improve cross-system interoperability.
  • Assist in the development of CONOPS, architecture products, interface definitions, and engineering documentation.
  • Identify technical risks, integration gaps, and lifecycle challenges affecting current and future range capabilities.
  • Support long-term modernization planning through structured engineering analysis and recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience with requirements development, verification, risk management, and technical baseline assessment.
  • Strong understanding of complex, distributed systems and their operational interdependencies.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries with government, contractor, and laboratory teams.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with test ranges, missile defense, space systems, or DoD mission environments.
  • Familiarity with radar, telemetry, optical systems, communications networks, or instrumentation architectures.
  • Experience supporting CONOPS development and system modernization planning.
  • Exposure to model-based systems engineering, interface control, or architecture analysis.
  • Ability to lead technical coordination efforts in dynamic operational settings.
