Position Description
Position Title: Senior Accountant
Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000
Job Location: Remote, residence in DMV with ability to travel to BAL office if needed
Job Type: Full Time, Exempt
Job Summary:
BlackSea is searching for a Senior Accountant to help support the general ledger function, with a heavy focus preparing monthly entries for the month end close process and reconciliations as well as lead full cycle accounting company subsidiary on Quick Books. This individual will be a key member of this accounting team reporting directly to the Assistant Controller. This role requires excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
Expected Contributions and Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for monthly close entries, including goodwill and intangibles, fixed assts, leases, prepaids, monthly accruals, etc.
- Prepare and maintain a comprehensive list of all monthly account reconciliations
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries as well as analyze financial documents and reports
- Help develop, maintain, and continuously improve the general ledger processes and procedures, including documentation of processes
- Maintain a monthly close checklist to track the monthly close entries and deliverables for all subsidiaries
- Responsible for full cycle accounting for a company subsidiary on QuickBooks, to include preparation of monthly financial statements
- Serve as key POC in supporting the ICS submission
- Assist with financial statement audits, regulatory reporting, and tax reporting, by ensuring the Company provides timely and accurate support
· Prepare/coordinate reports required by regulatory agencies, e.g., sales and use tax, property tax, etc.
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements:Required Skills/Education
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
· 4 -5 years of relevant accounting experience
· Experience in the government contracting environment
· MBA or CPA a plus
Knowledge and Skills
· Excellent knowledge of GAAP, CAS, FAR and internal controls
· Strong organizational, prioritization skills, and attention to detail
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrate high level of integrity, professionalism including teamwork
· Ability to work well under pressure manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
· Strong problem solving, research, and analytical skills
· Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment
· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred
· Experience with QuickBooks preferred
· Experience with Business Central accounting system a plus
