About This Position
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permitting Coordinator to support our national construction operations. This role is responsible for managing permitting and regulatory requirements from project kickoff through closeout, ensuring all due diligence is completed accurately and on time. The
Permitting Coordinator partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers and external agencies to keep projects moving forward without delays.
This is a critical coordination role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands construction documentation, and enjoys being the connective tissue between teams, jurisdictions, and utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all permitting activities from pre-construction through project closeout
- Perform complete due diligence for each project, including jurisdictional requirements, timelines, and documentation needs
- Prepare, submit, track, and close out permits with local, state, and federal authorities
- Coordinate and track Notices of Commencement (NOCs) and related filings
- Support project teams with documentation related to performance bonds and other compliance requirements
- Research and document utility requirements, including: Utility provider names and service areas, Key contacts and points of communication, Required applications, forms, and submittal processes, and Inspection requirements, sequencing, and release instructions
- Maintain accurate permitting logs, trackers, and project files
- Proactively identify risks or delays and communicate impacts and solutions to project teams
- Serve as a point of contact between internal teams, municipalities, inspectors, utility providers, and third-party agencies
- Ensure permits, approvals, and closeout documentation are properly archived and accessible
- Support audits and internal compliance reviews as needed
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in permitting, construction administration, or project coordination (general contractor experience strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of: Permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions, Notices of Commencement (NOCs), Performance bonds and compliance documentation, and Utility coordination and approvals
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management or document management systems a plus
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
