STREETS CREW LEADER at City of Greer – Greer, South Carolina
About This Position
The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Streets Crew Leader in our Public Services Department.
Responsibilities:
• Acts as lead person on a crew/team and directs all crew activities. May direct multiple teams. May act as Superintendent in the absence of other leadership.
• Enforces safe work practices, as experience, judgment, company policy, and OSHA specifies and conducts safety training in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Cleans streets by picking up trash and debris and cleaning ditches and drains.
• Performs minor repairs on City buildings.
• Performs various street maintenance duties such as cutting grass, trimming limbs, cutting trees, patching asphalt, fixing sidewalks and driveway entrances, fixing storm drainage facilities, etc.
• Responsible for snow removal.
• Completes work orders on a regular basis.
• Drives and operates department vehicles and heavy equipment. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as maintenance route lists, daily hour logs, and vehicle preventative maintenance checklist.

• Prepares and/or processes records and report as needed.
• Refers to equipment operator's manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, etc.
• Uses a variety of equipment and tools such as lightweight trucks, shovels, rakes, lawn mower, axes, chain saws, weed eater, and various other supplies in the performance of job duties.
•Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Public Services Supervisor, other City employees, and the public.
• Must be able to communicate professionally, both verbal and in writing in all situations.
• Performs related work as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Performs general administrative tasks as required, including preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, filing records, and answering phones.
· Participates in required training and continuing education to obtain and maintain certifications and stay current on changes in codes and ordinances.
· Assists other officers and staff when workload, emergencies, or special assignments require.
· Stays current on departmental policies, procedures, and processes.
· Completes work accurately, safely, and efficiently; maintains assigned equipment in good working condition.
· Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
· Identifies and reports suggested improvements or areas of concern to the Supervisor.
· Ensures professionalism and excellent customer service in all interactions while representing the City of Greer.
· Demonstrates strong ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability with coworkers, customers, and the community.
· Supports a culture of results, communication, and professional collaboration within the department and across the organization.
· Represents the department at community events or meetings when requested by the Supervisor.
· Adheres to the Employee Handbook and all applicable policies and procedures.
· Maintains regular, reliable attendance.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, M-F; with additional hours as needed due to weather, City events, etc.
Salary: Minimum $20.81 hourly; dependent on experience

Requirements:• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Five (5) years’ experience in roadway maintenance, truck and heavy equipment operation, and/or similar settings.
• First aid/CPR, ACI Flatwork Associate, Traffic Control and Pipe Installation trainings.
• Must possess a valid Class B CDL license with an acceptable driving record.
• Trenching and Shoring Competent Person training.
• Confined Space Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
