Street/Public Lighting Designer at Metro Engineering Solutions LLC – Northville, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY: Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (“MES”) is looking for a Street/Public Lighting Designer to join our team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The Designer is responsible for adhering to streetlighting standards and specs for design and photometric analysis services for our clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Select and interpret data, on a map-based platform such as ESRI/Google Earth.
• Performs various field inspections of streetlight overhead/underground construction for compliance and to customer standards.
• Negotiates with prospective, residential, and commercial customers if needed on behalf of client if requested.
• Participates in meeting or group discussions; provides advice and direction on products and/or services.
• Understands streetlight standards and specifications in accordance to our client’s needs to develop the appropriate design and photometric analysis solution(s).
• Appropriate utilization of AGi32 software if required.
• Conduct research, appropriate field visits, and support scoping of jobs.
• Other duties as assigned by Project Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
• Primarily work in an office setting.
• Ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in engineering is preferred, or 5+ years of experience in streetlighting design and photometric analysis.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D; experience with ESRI, Arc-GIS, and MicroStation preferred.
• Experience with AGi32 software is preferred.
• Experience with all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications preferred.
