We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to drive the development of a cutting-edge digital pathology ecosystem. This role provides the opportunity to design and implement end-to-end integrations that enable secure, high-volume imaging workflows, directly supporting AI-driven diagnostics and clinical operations. You will work across cross-functional teams in a collaborative, innovative, and fast-paced environment, influencing the tools and infrastructure that impact patient care and operational efficiency. This is a fully remote position, offering the chance to contribute to meaningful work while continuing to grow your technical expertise.

Accountabilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of the digital pathology integration stack, ensuring seamless connectivity between imaging systems, computational analysis, laboratory systems, and enterprise data platforms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Architecting and implementing integration layers between Image Management Systems (IMS), laboratory information systems (LIMS), and AI-driven image analysis workflows.
  • Designing and maintaining API middleware and microservices across cloud and on-premises infrastructure to orchestrate complex imaging workflows.
  • Advising on IMS vendor evaluations by validating integration capabilities and API robustness.
  • Collaborating with data engineering teams to build scalable pipelines for structured metadata and unstructured image assets.
  • Defining technical standards for data interoperability, ensuring semantic consistency across pathology reports and clinical data streams.
  • Implementing secure, compliant data exchanges aligned with HIPAA, GDPR, and GxP regulations.
  • Supporting AI and bioinformatics teams by integrating inference pipelines into clinical workflows.
  • Leading root cause analysis for integration issues to maintain high availability of critical diagnostic systems.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in software architecture, systems integration, and digital pathology solutions, including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or equivalent work experience; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of software architecture and systems integration experience in regulated healthcare or life sciences environments.
  • Expertise in Digital Pathology, Radiology (PACS/RIS), or high-content imaging systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (Logic Apps, API Management, Functions) and modern data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Proficiency with healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models into clinical production workflows, ideally in oncology or genomics.
  • Strong skills in API design (REST, GraphQL), message queuing, and event-driven architectures.
  • Proficiency in .NET, C#, Blazor, and SQL, with experience operating across Azure and AWS environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
Benefits

This role offers a comprehensive package designed to support both your professional and personal well-being:

  • Competitive salary and equity options, including Employee Stock Purchase Program.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays, plus tuition reimbursement and leadership development opportunities.
  • Flexible remote work environment (Monday–Friday, day shift).
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage with multiple HMO and PPO options.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Wellness programs and employee resource groups for engagement and professional growth.
