This role provides an opportunity to take ownership of payroll operations while contributing to broader accounting and financial processes in a dynamic, fully remote environment. You will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, manage general ledger activities, and support month-end close and audit readiness. By partnering with cross-functional teams, you will help streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and improve reporting accuracy. The position offers significant exposure to finance leadership and the chance to influence process improvements across payroll, accounts payable, and expense management. The Senior Accountant, Payroll, will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while supporting key accounting operations:
- Process payroll on a biweekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle basis in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage payroll accounting, including accruals, reconciliations, and alignment with the general ledger.
- Execute month-end close activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Support general ledger operations, including bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Provide backup support for accounts payable and travel & expense (T&E) functions as needed.
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor requests, and ensure adherence to internal controls and US GAAP.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, optimize accounting workflows, and support ERP and reporting system adoption and efficiency.
Candidates should bring a mix of technical expertise, payroll knowledge, and accounting experience:
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with direct payroll experience required; experience in general ledger, accounts payable, and T&E preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with payroll systems, ideally ADP or similar third-party platforms.
- Hands-on experience with ERP software, preferably NetSuite, including financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across teams.
- Knowledge of compliance, tax reporting, and payroll best practices.
- Curiosity and proactive approach to process improvements and workflow automation.
- Competitive salary range: $90,000–$108,000, dependent on skills, experience, and location.
