Position Overview

The Board Certified Assistant Behavioral Analyst is responsible for developing integrated behavioral intervention and skill training programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behavioral concerns. This person is responsible for training residential staff members to carry out individual programs, monitor individual’s progress, and analyze program effects. HBD will provide a qualified BCBA to provide supervision per board requirements.

Core Responsibilities


Clinical & Documentation

  • Completes and presents Behavioral Analysis Support Plan (BASP) to the Local Review Committee (LRC) as scheduled by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) at minimum yearly, but as requested.
  • Provides a written Quarterly Progress Report with graphic displays of target behaviors.
  • Completes Reactive Strategy Reporting.
  • Completes Functional Behavioral Assessments.
  • Writes programs at the level that can be easily read and followed by all staff members who are responsible for implementation.
  • Monitors data at least weekly to review individual’s behavior and progress.
  • Make programmatic changes and revisions as indicated and needed.
  • Creates and maintains organized records for each individual
  • Maintains confidentiality of individuals’ written records, and verbally by discussing issues in non-public areas, and to only individuals who have a need to know.
  • Use time clock to keep track of hours worked (APD requires evidence of time in homes)
  • May be asked to help complete other duties assigned by the Director of Behavioral services such as teaching the ABA class and/or supervising RBTs.

Training & Quality Assurance

  • Provides competency-based training on each resident’s BASP to residential/ADT (Adult Day Training) staff members who are responsible for implementation. Maintains records of training.
  • Provides clear and accurate written and/or verbal communication regarding program implementation and seeks feedback to ensure staff’s interactions are accurate.
  • Models’ appropriate interactions with individuals and provides corrective feedback to staff.
  • Conducts and maintains records of Monthly fidelity, according to APD standards

Collaboration & Support

  • Participate in team meetings to review progress, address problems that may have been identified, or to revise or update the person’s plan. This includes participation in psych meetings.
  • Attend individuals’ annual Support Plan meetings to assist the team in developing functional and meaningful outcomes.
  • Communicate with staff, family, guardians and individuals, using a non-defensive communication style that respects each individual and is understanding of their feelings and needs.
  • May be asked to accompany individuals with challenging behaviors to specialist appointments in the community and provide support to the individual to ensure a successful outcome.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible Schedules Available. Preferred hours: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Occasional evenings or weekends based on consumer needs
  • Services provided in ADT program and group homes located throughout Broward County
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Strong foundation in positive behavioral supports
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field
  • Active BCaBA certification (required)
  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • PCM Level II certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Completion of all APD-required training certifications upon hire
  • All candidates must pass a Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) prior to employment. More information can be found here: https://info.flclearinghouse.com

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25–50 pounds
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and apply approved physical holds
  • Ability to sit, stand, travel between locations, and use computer systems regularly
