This role offers the opportunity to shape the environmental and social integrity of large-scale forest protection and restoration programs. You will lead detailed analyses of program submissions, validations, and verifications, ensuring adherence to global safeguards and benefit-sharing requirements. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide guidance, track emerging best practices, and support decision-making processes. The position combines analytical rigor with strategic thinking, allowing you to influence program design and implementation at a global scale. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional passionate about safeguards, rights-based approaches, and climate action. You will have a meaningful impact on enabling high-integrity climate finance and supporting jurisdictional REDD+ programs worldwide.
- Conduct detailed analyses of TREES Document submissions, validation, and verification reports, ensuring completeness and compliance with safeguards, emission reduction rights, and benefit-sharing requirements
- Assist in reviewing monitoring and reporting systems to assess program performance and results
- Draft written assessments, summaries, and memos to inform internal decision-making and guidance
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop guidance materials and provide clarifications to participating jurisdictions and stakeholders
- Track research, initiatives, and best practices related to safeguards and IPLC engagement, providing insights for program updates
- Support internal quality assurance efforts to maintain rigorous, transparent safeguards procedures
- Provide technical expertise to support decision-making and enhance the integrity of jurisdictional REDD+ programs
- Advanced degree in environmental policy, social safeguards, international development, natural resource management, or a related field; equivalent professional experience also considered
- 4–6 years of experience in safeguards analysis, environmental/social risk management, carbon accounting programs, or related compliance review roles
- Knowledge of TREES, REDD+, jurisdictional carbon programs, or carbon standards preferred
- Experience working with validation and verification bodies (VVBs) or quality assurance systems is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and generate actionable insights
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Fluency in English required; additional languages such as Portuguese or French are an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and SharePoint
- Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and professional demeanor, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments as needed
