About This Position

Description:

Salary: Minimum $15.00/hour - Maximum $18.00/hour

Type: Part-Time – Non-Exempt

Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week (Flexible Schedule)

Reports to: Maintenance Director

Department Overview

The Maintenance Department plays a vital role in ensuring YMCA facilities remain safe, clean, and well-maintained for members, staff, and guests. The team is responsible for preventative maintenance, facility operations, safety compliance, and supporting the daily needs of YMCA programs.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and facility improvements, including mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Complete work orders using the maintenance management system and assist with preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor facility conditions and report any unsafe or unusual issues to leadership.
  • Safely operate tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment.
  • Support basic maintenance of vehicles and equipment as needed.

Grounds & Housekeeping

  • Maintain grounds and landscaping to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment year-round.
  • Perform custodial duties as needed to support cleanliness and member satisfaction.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and facility-related safety concerns.
  • Ensure unused rooms and storage areas are secured and routinely monitor high-risk areas (locker rooms, restrooms, etc.).

Collaboration & Service

  • Provide excellent service and build positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and contractors on facility projects.
  • Support the overall operation and readiness of YMCA facilities and equipment.

Compliance Expectations

  • Adhere to YMCA policies related to boundaries, supervision, and abuse risk management.
  • Complete all required training, including abuse prevention training.
  • Follow all mandated reporting requirements and safety procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance systems.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and respond effectively to maintenance and emergency situations.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn, be trained, and take on new responsibilities.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all backgrounds.
