Position Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist works under the direction of a radiologist, performing the specific section procedures with high quality. The Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply the prescribed diagnostic imaging equipment for production of high-quality images. The Ultrasound Technologist assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as requested.

The department provides diagnostic ultrasound imaging services within the health care facility to patients in need.

Qualifications

  • ARDMS certification or registry eligible. Preferred graduate of an approved ARDMS program
  • Maintain current licenses and certifications as required.
  • Obtain registry license less than one year from the date of hire.
  • Ability to operate equipment within the department.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Identify each patient and review physician orders for accuracy.
  • Properly position patients for high image quality.
  • Medical record documentation in HIS and RIS or systems required per department.
  • Review each examination for quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and stock supplies.
  • Communicate pertinent information to supervisor or responsible individual.
  • Explain exams/procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns.
  • Ability to meet and interact with the public in a mature, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Complete and adhere to knowledge gained through annual employee education.
  • Maintain Aultman attendance standards.
  • Adhere to Aultman policies and procedures.
  • No direct reports for this position.

Department Responsibilities & Expectations

Working Conditions

  • Hours may vary as required by job. Weekends and holidays.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage.
  • Cross training in areas of the department as required.
  • Colleagues may be assigned to various locations within the foundation.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
