Project Engineer at Q-Lab Corporation – Westlake, Ohio

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking a Project Engineer. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, this position will design, build, and test electromechanical prototypes while owning multiple assigned projects for new product development, design improvement, and cost reduction of Q-Lab instruments and test chambers.

This position will be fully onsite in Westlake, OH.

Responsibilities:

• Own multiple engineering projects including new product developments, design improvements, and cost reductions
• Plan and manage project requirements, technical risks, deliverables, and timelines
• Design, build, and test prototypes to validate performance versus requirements
• Document work effectively (engineering reports, test instructions, engineering change notices)

Experience Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent
• 5 to 10 years proven record in a product development and/or manufacturing environment
• Advanced proficiency in 3D design skills and design translation
• Deep domain expertise in one or more core areas: mechanical design, rapid prototyping, sheet metal, injection molding, weldments, fiberglass, fabrication processes, heaters, motors, pumps, filtration, air handling, etc.
• Demonstrated design skills to meet requirements for safety, performance, reliability and manufacturability
• Strong project management experience across large and small scope projects
• Proven organizational and time management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities

Desired Skills:

• Domain expertise in several of the core areas above
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency in working with suppliers and outside contract resources to deliver project objectives
• Microsoft Inventor, Vault
• Finite element modeling and analysis (mechanical, thermal, flow)LEAN manufacturing methodology
• Data analysis, statistics, six sigma methodology
• Structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA), troubleshooting and problem solving
