About This Position

Senior Accountant

Via Separations is a Boston-area startup dedicated to enabling process efficiency and intensification for the industrial sector. In 2024, Via delivered its first commercial facility and changed the narrative around market-driven energy technologies that drive value for industrial customers. At the intersection of engineering, society, and impact, our team is passionate about making a difference and building the technology and organization to do it. We are a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team backed by leading venture capital firms, and we are looking to add talented, mission-driven people to our cohort.

We are passionate about transformative impact, optimistic about scientific progress, and unafraid of hard problems. We believe that our people are our unfair advantage, and drive our mission forward. We embrace the diversity of our team for creative solutions and believe the best ideas come from the intersection of disciplines and perspectives. We want you to join us!

Role Description

As the Senior Accounting Associate, you will own the Company’s financial reporting and analysis functions, including interfacing with our external accounting team to close monthly financials, reconcile inventory, ensure timely tax compliance, and A/P and A/R management. This is an excellent opportunity for a change of pace from a traditional accounting role with significant team interaction, creative implementation, and optimizing purpose-driven processes. You will be vital in driving key processes to set the company up for growth and scale.

If you have a knack for spotting discrepancies before they become problems and enjoy driving efficient financial processes, join us!

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the production of timely financial statements, ensuring data integrity and accuracy

  • Lead the team in the month end close and financial reporting process, overseeing daily accounting operations

  • Support financial audit process, including preparing financial analyses and schedules necessary for audit, and coordinating audit requests with team members

  • Manage government grant financial reporting

  • Support Via’s purchasing processes, including invoice payment and expense reconciliation.

  • Oversee invoicing and the accounts receivable operations.

  • Support the optimization of existing financial platforms and migration(s) to other new platforms.

  • Collaborate across the team to draft organizational budgets, ensuring that organizational strategic priorities are properly funded.

  • Drive and optimize Via’s purchasing processes, including invoice payment and expense reconciliation.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally for manufacturing and/or services companies. CPA or public accounting experience is highly preferred.

  • Experience using Quickbooks Online, Bill.com, and Expensify preferred but not required

  • You are goal-oriented, and energized by multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment

  • You are detail-oriented, love numbers, and thrive when conducting analyses

  • You love working on complex interdisciplinary projects with teams and deep diving into detailed financials and transactions. You’re able to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.

  • US Work Authorization is required.

We Offer:
  • Competitive compensation package, including equity options

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance

  • Disability & Life Insurance

  • 401(k)

  • 12 weeks paid Family Leave

  • Flexible PTO

  • Paid time off for Company holidays

  • Onsite gym
In addition to the base salary listed above, Via's compensation package includes equity options and an annual performance bonus.
Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. Via may consider an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role!

At Via, we value and prioritize diversity of thought, access, and experiences, and are an equal opportunity employer by choice. We consider all qualified applicants equally for employment. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, protected veteran status, religion, physical or mental disability, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, or any other basis protected by law, ordinance, or regulation.
