This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Game Engineer in Germany.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the backbone of high-performance multiplayer gaming experiences at the forefront of AAA co-development. You will work in a fully remote, globally distributed team embedded directly within partner studios, contributing to large-scale, complex game systems. The focus is on building scalable, low-latency, and highly optimized multiplayer gameplay experiences that support massive player interactions. You will collaborate closely with designers, artists, and engineers to bring immersive and technically sophisticated worlds to life. - Design, develop, and refine advanced multiplayer-ready gameplay systems both within and outside Unreal Engine.
- Build high-quality, maintainable, and efficient C++ code supporting large-scale game systems and performance-critical features.
- Contribute to scalable networking architectures, including client-server systems, prediction, reconciliation, and lag compensation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver immersive and technically robust gameplay experiences.
- Solve complex technical challenges related to multiplayer synchronization, performance optimization, and system design.
- Support the integration of online services, backend systems, and gameplay infrastructure.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and technical standards.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional experience working with Unreal Engine in game development.
- Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17/C++20) and system-level programming concepts.
- Deep understanding of client-server architecture and multiplayer networking principles.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with at least one additional game engine or proprietary engine architecture.
- Familiarity with online services and backend systems (e.g., Playfab, AccelByte, or custom solutions).
- Experience with Unreal Engine Gameplay Ability System (GAS).
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
- Experience with ECS frameworks, AI systems, cloud platforms, or scripting languages is a plus.
