Civil Technician II at Verita Telecommunications Corp – Plymouth, Michigan

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Technician II to support telecom infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for assisting with site development, utility installation, and ensuring construction activities meet company standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. The ideal candidate has hands-on field experience and can work with minimal supervision.

• Perform and support civil construction activities including trenching, digging, grading, and site preparation
• Assist with installation of underground telecom infrastructure (conduit, fiber, handholes, vaults)
• Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, and tampers
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and utility maps
• Locate and verify existing underground utilities prior to excavation
• Ensure job sites are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized manner
• Follow all OSHA and company safety standards and procedures
• Assist with traffic control setup and restoration work (asphalt, concrete, landscaping)
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and project managers
• Document work completed, materials used, and any field issues or changes

• 2+ years of experience in civil construction, preferably in telecom or utility installation
• Experience with underground fiber installation and conduit placement preferred
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans
• Familiarity with locating utilities (811) and safe digging practices
• Experience operating light to medium construction equipment
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening

• Ability to lift 75–100 lbs regularly
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed
