We're hiring a Lead Groundskeeper!

Pay Range: $19.50 – $26.00/hour

Job Summary
Western Camps Inc. is seeking a Lead Groundskeeper to support the maintenance and care of all outdoor grounds, landscaping, and irrigation systems across multiple properties.
This position performs skilled grounds maintenance work and provides day-to-day support to the Grounds Department. The Lead Groundskeeper also serves as a working lead in the absence of the Facilities & Grounds Supervisor, helping coordinate tasks and maintain property standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Grounds Maintenance
- Perform routine landscaping duties including mowing, edging, trimming, and blowing
- Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas
- Control weeds and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as directed
- Clean and maintain walkways, parking lots, and outdoor common areas
- Assist with seasonal cleanup, planting, and property preparation projects
- Irrigation Systems
- Inspect irrigation systems and identify maintenance issues
- Repair sprinkler heads, valves, leaks, timers, and minor line issues
- Adjust irrigation schedules based on weather and seasonal conditions
- Report complex system issues requiring outside repair
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Safely operate groundskeeping equipment and tools
- Perform routine maintenance (cleaning, blade changes, lubrication)
- Identify and report mechanical issues to Fleet Mechanic
- Ensure proper storage and upkeep of all tools and equipment
- Lead Duties (As Needed)
- Coordinate daily work priorities in supervisor’s absence
- Provide direction to maintain workflow and productivity
- Serve as point of contact for urgent grounds issues
- Escalate safety or operational concerns as needed

Qualifications
- Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or related field preferred
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and landscape maintenance practices
- Ability to operate and maintain grounds equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and work quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and adaptable to changing priorities
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday
- Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs with or without assistance
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and rain
- Ability to use ladders, hand tools, and powered equipment safely
- Visual ability to inspect grounds, irrigation systems, and equipment
Schedule
Full-time schedule, typically Monday–Friday. Occasional weekends, holidays, or extended hours may be required based on operational needs.
