Job Description
Team Specialist Behavioral Health
As a Valleywise Health Team Specialist, you are part of a multidisciplinary team providing exceptional care for our patients. Our team includes social workers, psychiatric and medical providers, nurses, behavioral health technicians, mental health workers, health unit coordinators, chaplains, and recreational therapists. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team fosters a positive experience for members, their families, and coworkers.
We provide psychiatric services for children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Services are provided at one of our three inpatient facilities (Maryvale, Phoenix, and Mesa). Over 90% of our adult patient population are hospitalized for court-ordered evaluation, which dictates a collaborative relationship with the court system.
As a Team Specialist, you work under the direction of the Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Programs and the Manager, Care Coordinator for Behavioral Health Services. You work independently but in coordination with other team members. The Team Specialist performs various tasks, including but not limited to identifying community services and supports, coordinating communication with the court system of patients' eligibility for services, and liaison with the court system regarding witnesses, testimony, and changes to the court calendar. You coordinate and work closely with community partners to obtain all necessary documents for court proceedings and identify barriers to patient care.
Hourly Pay Rate: $19.73 - $29.10
Qualifications
Education:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to Behavioral Health or
- Any other bachelor's degree and one (1) year of full-time behavioral health work experience or
- Any associate degree and two (2) years of full-time behavioral health work experience or
- Eighteen (18) credit hours of post-high school education in a field related to behavioral health and two (2) years of full-time behavioral health work experience or
- A high school diploma or GED and four (4) years of full-time behavioral health work experience.
Experience:

Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with adults with a serious mental illness, demonstrating an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certification/Licensure:

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current valid AZ-issued driver's license in good standing and must carry the AZ legally always required minimum insurance coverage on a personal vehicle.

Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under ARS Title 32, and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice.

This position requires operation of a vehicle. Employment is contingent upon meeting the driving eligibility standards outlined in the Valleywise Health Vehicle Use Policy (VUP).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a strong understanding of the Court Ordered Evaluation process.
- Requires knowledge of the Regional Behavioral Health Authority's system and serious mental issues services.
- Must have excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with customers within and outside the organization.
- Must have good verbal and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, visitors, and coworkers.
- Requires the ability to multitask and work under pressure with strict timeframes.
- Must have the ability to work independently and seek supervision appropriately.
- Requires maintaining highly confidential information, including a working knowledge of HIPAA.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
