This role plays a critical part in ensuring the successful execution of large-scale construction and engineering projects by driving discipline, accuracy, and visibility across cost, schedule, and performance metrics. You will oversee project controls functions while providing leadership and guidance to a team of specialists, ensuring alignment with project execution plans and contractual requirements. The position combines technical expertise with strong coordination and leadership responsibilities, acting as a key advisor to project management teams. You will help establish and maintain project baselines, monitor performance, and proactively identify risks and variances. Operating in a fast-paced, field-connected environment, this role requires close collaboration across engineering, construction, and commercial teams. It is well suited for someone who thrives in complex project environments and enjoys both hands-on analysis and team leadership.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading project controls activities and ensuring effective cost and schedule management across major projects, including:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive project controls plans as part of the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
- Establishing and maintaining cost, schedule, and commercial baselines, ensuring accurate tracking against project performance.
- Setting up and managing project control systems, including Work Breakdown Structures and coding structures for accurate reporting and governance.
- Monitoring project performance, analyzing cost and schedule variances, and recommending mitigation strategies to project leadership.
- Providing technical leadership, coaching, and supervision to a team of project controls specialists.
- Supporting risk identification, performance reporting, and project forecasting activities.
- Collaborating closely with project managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment across all project phases.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and internal project control standards.
This role requires strong experience in project controls within construction or engineering environments, along with leadership capabilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical contracting, MEP coordination, or large-scale construction project environments.
- Strong expertise in cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and project baseline development.
- Proven ability to lead or mentor project controls teams in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Experience analyzing variances and developing actionable mitigation plans.
- Strong understanding of project execution planning, work breakdown structures, and control systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments with flexible schedules and occasional travel (25–50%).
