Job Summary:

The Training Specialist supports the mission of Goodwill Industries of Tulsa by designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that enhance employee growth, leadership capability, and organizational effectiveness. This role collaborates across departments to build operational excellence, career pathways, strengthen core competencies, and foster a culture of continuous learning and inclusion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver functional training programs based on SOPs and policies for Retail and Processing departments.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions using blended learning methods (classroom, e-learning, coaching, experiential).
  • Audit and monitor adherence to SOPs and policies, providing feedback and retraining as needed.
  • Create and maintain training materials including manuals, visual aids, and online tutorials.
  • Establish and maintain Employee Resource Bank
  • Leadership development initiatives for emerging and established leaders
  • Technical and tactical training aligned with operational excellence
  • Soft skills enhancement including communication, teamwork, and emotional intelligence
  • Safety and compliance training in coordination with regulatory standards
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) framework and training programs
  • Career pathing frameworks to support employee growth and retention
  • Define and maintain core competencies for key roles
  • Develop tiered training programs aligned with competencies
  • Collaborate with departments to update job descriptions and create SOPs
  • Partner with HR to enhance the performance appraisal process
  • Work with managers to identify individual or team-specific training needs

Other Job Functions:

  • Maintain high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite and e-learning development tools proficiently.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain Goodwill’s Drug‑Free Workplace and safety‑sensitive standards.
  • Ability to work independently and travel between multiple sites.
  • Basic proficiency with email, mobile apps, and documentation tools.
  • Collaborates effectively with internal departments and external partners to support organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and cultural humility.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify needs and connect individuals with appropriate support services.
  • Shares information clearly, respectfully, and in a manner that fosters understanding.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
  • Upholds discretion and builds trust by handling sensitive information responsibly.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent travel between sites; mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.) for transporting snacks and materials.
  • Flexible schedule may include early mornings or occasional weekends to align with site needs.
