We are currently looking for an LICENSED Optician to join our team!
THIS POSITION MAY REQUIRE TRAVEL WITHIN THE SWFL AREA. CANDIDATE MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION AND THE ABILITY TO WORK IN ANY OF OUR OFFICES IN EITHER NAPLES, FT. MYERS OR PUNTA GORDA.

We are seeking a full-time, experienced Optician who has an “eye” for detail and a desire to grow in the world of Ophthalmology. The ideal candidate will be patient-focused and a team player.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs prescription analysis such as interpreting and transposing.
- Provides patient education regarding lens materials, products, and designs.
- Recommends to patients regarding proper eyeglass frame selection and proper fit
- Adjust/repair frames. Includes proper alignment of frame, comfortable fit, functional vision
- Performs accurate measurements of lens power, pupillary distance, multifocal segment height, lens base curve, vertex distance, and prism power.
- Order custom lens products from wholesale optical laboratories, monitor process, post charges, and bill insurance when needed.
- Orders contact lenses for patients
- Instructs patients on proper contact lens care, insertion, and removal.
- Verifies lens prescriptions of ordered lenses and checks for accuracy
- Assists in wholesale purchasing of frames and other products for resale to patients.
- Maintain product displays and be familiar with latest optical products
- Promotes products and services of elective programs within Collins Vision
WHAT POWERS YOUR SUCCESS:
- High School Diploma
- Florida Optician License
- 1-2 years of retail Optician/dispensing experience required
- Knowledge of vision insurance plans, eligibility and authorizations
- 1-2 years management experience
- Experience in inventory management
- Passionate desire to be a part of a growing organization and contribute to the overall success of the team
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff and doctors
- Working knowledge of proper sales techniques, negotiating business contracts
- Ability to understand vision plans and eligibility to collect payments and process insurance claims
- Being able to advise patients on proper frame design, fit and performance
- Ability to work independently
