About This Position
Part-Time: 22 hours. Sunday 730a-5p; Monday 730a-5p; and Wednesday 8a-11a.
Wage: $17.63/hour

General
Under the direction of the Animal Care Supervisors and Manager, the Animal Care Technician provides daily care and well-being to the animals at Animal Friends Alliance, ensuring the environment is clean and welcoming for the animals. Animal Care Technicians are responsible for the feeding, cleaning, and basic care of shelter dogs and cats. This is a hands-on animal care position. This position requires attention to detail, excellent time management skills, the ability to problem solve, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills with other members of the staff, volunteers, and the general public.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
? Thoroughly clean and sanitize animal kennels and other work areas.
? Cleans kennels, feeds animals, and performs related housekeeping duties and general care for animals
? Assist with the coordination of kenneling and the movement of animals.
? Provide guidance for animal care volunteers.
? Ensures the behavioral and enrichment needs of all shelter animals are met
? Assesses animals and makes recommendations regarding their disposition.
? Facilitates dog playgroups, dog assessments, and public dog introductions.
? Performs general shelter duties, including receiving animals brought to the shelter and transporting animals to offsite locations.
? Perform or assist with the maintenance of equipment.
? Interact with other departments and assist with additional animal care services such as the delivery of medication and treatment.
? Monitor and maintain food and supplies.
? Perform data entry and documentation to update animal records.
? Follow proper safety procedures and meet standards, reporting concerns or violations immediately to the Animal Care Supervisor, Animal Care Manager, or Director of Shelter Services.
? Communicate supply needs to the Animal Care Supervisor or Manager.
? Notify the Animal Care Manager or Director of Shelter Services of maintenance and repair needs.
? Ensures that morning/closing checklists are done accurately and completed as assigned.
? Take immediate action to address hazardous situations.
? Ensure staff and volunteers follow appropriate safety measures.
? Promote teamwork by demonstrating a cooperative, flexible, adaptable, and helpful attitude with all staff and volunteers.
Other Duties:
? Attends one-on-ones with direct supervisor.

Requirements:Education/Experience:
Education
? Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
? Preferred: Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Experience:
? Required: One year caring for animals.
? Preferred: Two years of animal handling in a fast-paced environment
Miscellaneous
? Valid Driver’s License: Required
