Starting Pay: $20.00 - $25.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Trainer is responsible for overseeing the employee orientation program and curriculum for the onboarding of warehouse operations. This position will train and develop new and current employees on warehouse processes, best practices, efficiency, and safety standards. Monitor and document employee progress during training and ensure updates are made when necessary. This position will work directly with the leadership team to support the training and enablement of warehouse operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
  2. Provides individual/group training to new and current employees by conducting a comprehensive onboarding plan and support focused on business processes, tools, and resources.
  3. Builds rapport with all new hires/current employees and serves as their source of support in the first weeks of employment.
  4. Ensures employees have the most up-to-date tools to perform job duties.
  5. Responsible for tracking and recording completed training.
  6. Certifies employees on all warehouse equipment.
  7. Participates in periodic reviews of established SOPs and training materials.
  8. Documents training programs follow-up for refresher training courses.
  9. Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to a supervisor.
  10. Manages the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs including ongoing learning opportunities.
  11. Assesses existing training materials to revise and create training courses.
  12. Conducts needs assessment, identifies performance gaps, and implements training best practices.
  13. Collaborates with other departments to improve training materials and processes.
  14. Participates in monthly team meetings contributing to the team’s overall progress.
  15. Provides support to the day-to-day warehouse operations as needed.
  16. Functions as a team member within the department and as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate, Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management preferred
  • A minimum of one (1) year working in a warehouse environment
  • Forklift certified

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in SharePoint, Google Sheets, and Outlook
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to present training materials in a large/individual group setting
  • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience
  • Proven ability to partner with different departments, identify performance or training opportunities, and build, develop, deploy, evaluate, and measure programs
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail
  • Must possess solid organization, prioritization, and time management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required daily to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a standing or stationary position for a significant amount of the workday; and often access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee must regularly move about the office and around the facility, use hands, wrists, and fingers to grip, type, and write. The employee must frequently lift 50 pounds. The employee will need to have the average ability to hear horns, warnings, and alerts associated with a warehouse. The employee must frequently travel to other sites for business.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an enclosed office environment, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, strong food-related smells, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the employee will be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels (e.g., horns, fans).

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

No travel is required for this role.

This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
