About This Position

Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented GIS Land Analyst to join our dynamic GIS team. The primary role of this position is to provide critical geospatial support for the company's land acquisition, management, and regulatory activities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using GIS software to create, maintain, and analyze spatial data related to leases, permits, wells, and surface rights, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all land-related information. This role is essential for supporting landmen, negotiators, and management in making informed strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:
  • Create, edit, and maintain high-quality GIS datasets for oil and gas assets, including lease boundaries, royalty interests, unit boundaries, wellbores, pipelines, and facility locations.
  • Digitize and geo-reference hardcopy maps, plats, surveys, and legal descriptions into accurate digital formats.
  • Perform frequent data updates to reflect new acquisitions, trades, divestitures, and expiration of leases.
  • Ensure all spatial data adheres to company standards and is properly documented with metadata.
  • Work closely with the Land Department to ensure all GIS data reflects Formentera’s current footprint.
  • Manage the GIS LAND.SDE and all feature classes.
  • Publish and manage all Land related GIS feature services in Portal.
  • Coordinate and lead the effort to integrate Quorum On-Demand Land with Enterprise GIS.
  • Assist with daily map and GIS data requests.

Key Competencies:
  • ESRI ArcGIS Suite Mastery: High proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, ArcCatalog) for advanced spatial analysis, data management, and cartography.
  • Data Management: Demonstrated ability to create, edit, and maintain complex geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and proper metadata documentation.
  • Automation & Efficiency: Competency in using Python, ArcPy, or ModelBuilder to automate repetitive tasks, improve workflows, and conduct advanced spatial analysis.
  • Land System Integration: Experience with industry-standard land management software (e.g., Quorum, Enverus, PRISM) and understanding the critical link between spatial data and land administration systems.
  • Web GIS: Familiarity with ArcGIS Online/Portal to create and share interactive web maps and applications for broader organizational use.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3 -8 years’ recent experience in the energy industry focused on GIS and Land.
  • Familiarity with the upstream lifecycle, from land acquisition and exploration to drilling, production, and divestiture. Understands the geospatial needs of each stage.
  • Proficient computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Flexibility to work beyond core hours to complete projects
  • Trustworthy and dependable

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of GIS database design
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of oil and gas drilling, completions, and production operations
  • Knowledge and understanding of GIS developer languages (ArcPy, Python, Arcade, JavaScript)
  • Basic knowledge of acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)
  • This position is primarily sedentary, with regular requirements to communicate verbally and listen. The employee will frequently need to stand, walk, handle objects with their hands, and reach with their arms.
  • Close visual acuity is required to view a computer screen, read, transcribe, and analyze data.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be necessary.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity is needed to operate a computer keyboard and related equipment.
