What You’ll Do

As an Surgery Department Registered Nurse, you’ll report to the Patient Service Manager. You will provide professional nursing services in the area of assignment, assess the needs of patients and initiates, implements and evaluates individualized plans of care. The position collaborates with other professional, clinical and ancillary staff in providing compassionate and quality care to patients.

Surgery Department RN Job Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively perform high-risk, high-frequency procedures.
  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity, resources, and departmental needs.
  • Respond to health risks and advocate for patients and families.
  • Maintain accountability for clinical decisions and delegate appropriately.
  • Develop, revise, and document individualized care plans.
  • Ensure continuity of care and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members.
  • Stay current with clinical advancements and contribute to team development.
  • Support departmental goals and complete assigned duties and projects.
  • What You Bring

You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques. As a Registered Nurse, your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and others. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner. As an RN you have an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program and RN license in the state of Michigan
  • Within 5 years of employment as an RN, obtain a BSN or certification in your area of specialty
    • The certification must be maintained based off of accrediting body standards.
