We are looking for an individual to join our growing team. The Miner 1 Construction Lead position will report to the Mine Supervisor.
About Us
The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce ~3.0 million ounces of silver in 2026 as the mine ramps up production.
The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Understand and follow instructionsRead and understand printsIdentify manage material requirements for current and future tasksPerform manual labor in support of underground operationsBe knowledgeable in the underground layoutPerform pump installation and required monitoring or maintenancePerform fan/ventilation installationFollow good housekeeping practicesSafely and efficiently operate front end loaders, forklifts (RTFL), scoop trams, scissor deck, MacLean shotcrete sprayer, Normet shotcrete sprayer and Normet TransmixerSafely operate underground light vehiclesFollow procedures for reporting defective equipmentProperly perform all pre-op equipment inspectionsUse basic hazard recognitionEnsure crew works in a safe mannerPerform a proper heading inspection (FLHA)Be able to perform complete workplace examinations, pre-operation inspections on mobile equipmentComply with Health, Safety and Security, Environmental and all Company policies and proceduresComply with jurisdictional health and safety regulationsThe above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusiveBe able to coach and mentor crewsAssume responsibility of the supervisor in their absenceCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Hecla Yukon’s policies and applicable laws. Qualifications
A minimum of 10 year of underground construction experience preferredPrior experience in the mining sector preferredMust be able to work independently, as well as a mentorMust be self-motivatedMust have a valid driver’s licenseMust have flexibility with scheduling and be willing to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as neededMust be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and OutlookMust be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writingAbility to organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical mannerGood time management skillsExcellent attention to detailMust be able to maintain confidentialityMust pass pre-employment physical and drug screen

Work Environment
Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, as well as extreme temperatures ranging from cold to warm. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can occasionally be loud, depending on the task or location on site.
Work Location & Schedule
This is a fly-in fly-out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs.
To ensure efficient travel logistics, we are primarily seeking candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions.
