Role Summary
As a Marketing Automation Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the complete execution of email nurture campaigns, collaborating with various stakeholders and teams. You will lead and coordinate campaign delivery by managing resources, timelines, and quality standards, while ensuring effective use of marketing automation tools such as Marketo. Acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, you will work closely with demand generation, field marketing, and customer success teams to provide insights and best practices that optimize email performance and enhance the customer experience. Your role blends hands-on tactical leadership with a focus on delivering efficient, scalable results.
Key Responsibilities
Execution Management & Delivery
Define strategic goals and execution plans for email nurture programs optimized for customer experience and performance
Drive cross‑team priorities, remove blockers, and lay foundations for future nurture programs
Lead execution of email nurture campaigns, ensuring all campaigns launch on time and meet quality expectations.
Manage daily workload prioritization, backlog grooming, and task assignments within the team to ensure smooth operational delivery in Asana.
Monitor campaign flows, deliverables, and milestones; promptly resolve execution issues or escalate risks.
Maintain strong quality controls including test plans, pre-send reviews, and post-campaign audits.
Set and maintain scalable operating processes and governance frameworks to maximize efficiency, quality, and compliance in campaign execution.
Marketo Administration & Optimization
Oversee and participate actively in Marketo system administration and maintenance.
Develop and implement campaign design and automation patterns using Marketo (lead nurturing, segmentation, scoring).
Execute A/B testing strategies and analyze results to optimize campaign effectiveness.
Troubleshoot deliverability, engagement, and performance issues; recommend and apply solutions with the team.
Ensure regular audits and housekeeping within Marketo to maintain operational health.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination
Partner closely with demand generation, content marketing, sales, audience management, and other key stakeholders to align campaign execution with business priorities.
Facilitate clear communication flows and ensure stakeholder expectations are managed on campaign status and timelines.
Coordinate with vendors and external partners providing execution support or technology services.
Ensure team adherence to agreed SLAs and deliverables, escalating and addressing project risks proactively.
Own customer experience for the email nurture motion, championing improvements driven by data insights and feedback.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Own reporting on campaign execution metrics, timelines, and quality against quarterly plans.
Leverage data to identify bottlenecks or areas for improving execution efficiency and effectiveness.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team through lessons learned, process refinement, and training.
Establish and monitor data-driven quality checks, experimentation cadence (pre/post-mortems), and AI-assisted automation to continuously improve campaign outcomes.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Experience & Skills
8+ years of experience managing email marketing execution within large or enterprise environments.
Proven hands-on proficiency with Marketo administration and campaign execution processes.
Strong expertise in marketing automation best practices (lead nurturing, segmentation, lead scoring).
Experience designing and executing A/B tests; ability to interpret campaign performance metrics to inform optimizations.
Excellent organizational and workload management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and deadlines.
Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a bias toward proactive issue resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) preferred.
Familiarity with ABM platforms (Demandbase, 6sense) and web personalization tools.
Experience with Google Analytics, UTM tracking, and attribution modeling is an advantage
Experience working with globally distributed team and stakeholders
Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
