About This Position
Registration Assistant
What You’ll Do
As a Registration/Office Assistant I, you will be the first point of contact for patients entering our AMC, Main Registration, and Satellite Clinic locations. You will ensure each patient is welcomed, registered accurately, and supported throughout the checkin process. You’ll also assist with basic scheduling and may help manage incoming calls for the hospital and clinic.
In this role, you will:
- Register patients efficiently and accurately by collecting and entering demographic and insurance information.
- Verify insurance eligibility using EPIC RTE or other approved resources and update insurance details correctly.
- Confirm patient identity by verifying name and date of birth and ensuring accurate labeling on armbands and required paperwork.
- Establish and update guarantor accounts, including those related to worker’s compensation, auto accidents, and other special circumstances.
- Identify Business Health services, obtain necessary forms, and ensure accurate specialty billing.
- Collect patient copays at the time of service; post payments accurately and balance cash drawer at end of shift.
- Demonstrate basic scheduling knowledge, including provider differences, visit types, and appointment durations.
- Operate a multi-line phone system, answer calls professionally, transfer calls appropriately, and make clear overhead pages.
- Ensure all required paperwork is labeled and prepared for HIM scanning.
- Prioritize patient needs, responding appropriately in both routine and emergent situations with calm, clear communication.
- Create clear, concise messages and relay information to staff promptly.
- Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including securing PHI and money.
- Assist with registration work queues and make accurate corrections as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support smooth registration and office operations.
- Previous registration or office experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with a busy, multi-line phone system
- General computer knowledge and strong technical comfort
Required Skills & Qualities
- Ability to type 40 wpm accurately
- Excellent communication skills and a pleasant speaking voice
- Ability to work under pressure and handle frequent interruptions
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work schedules
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license

Required Education- High School diploma or GED
