The Village Events and Animation department of the Community Engagement and Cultural Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Assistant Recreation Facilities Coordinator - Outdoor. Reporting to the Recreation Facilities Coordinator - Outdoor, this position offers a schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly starting as soon as possible through to October 15, 2026.
The Assistant Facility Coordinator’s role is to assist and support the Recreation Facility Coordinator to co-coordinate and facilitate bookings for parks, fields and various outdoor RMOW locations. This role provides excellent customer service and will consult with a variety of external and internal groups to support operations ensuring safe, optimal, and appropriate use of RMOW locations. This role also provides on-site event support and monitoring including on evenings and weekends.
Qualified candidates possess a Grade 12 diploma, additional education in a related field such as Events Management or Tourism and at least 1 year of work experience in a similar busy and dynamic office environment. Qualified candidates demonstrate well-rounded administrative skills and good knowledge of business communication; experience in basic bookkeeping and accounting practices; proficiency with Microsoft 365, reservation or booking software with the ability to learn new and changing technology; and a professional, approachable, and helpful demeanor. Knowledge and experience with resort community festivals and events is a strong asset.
The successful candidate is a customer service focused individual who is a purposeful collaborator with a high attention to detail and the ability to effectively meet deadlines and prioritize work tasks. The successful candidate also demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace and will create and maintain a positive team environment. The starting wage for this job position is $31.98 per hour.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory drivers abstract and a satisfactory Police Information check prior to beginning employment.
