About This Position
What Impact You'll Have
As a Controller at GRVTY you will oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
What You'll be Owning
- Establish, maintain and enforce a documented system and associated controls through accounting policies and procedures
- Supervise all direct reports based on organizational structure and manage oversight for remaining team members
- Oversee parent and "online" subsidiary(ies) payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, cash management, and general ledger activity to facilitate timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare organization for "IPO readiness" by maturing processes related to revenue recognition, capitalization, impairment, lease accounting and other publicly traded company expectations
- Guide the accounting operations of "offline" subsidiaries, especially their timely reporting, control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
- Manage reporting of key business metrics such as DSO, DPO, and Capital expenditures plus recommend additional benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Manage outsourced functions, including third party valuation efforts associated with transaction accounting
- Monitor and provide reporting based on covenants under debt financing arrangements
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Interface with Government agencies (ie DCAA, DCMA) to support business needs related to Accounting and Business systems, in addition to annual reporting requirements and submissions for Incurred Cost and Provisional Rates
- Support annual budget/planning initiatives with relevant Accounting inputs and indirect cost trends
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Comply with local, state, and federal government tax reporting requirements and tax filings
- Coordinate the provision of information to external tax accountants for annual tax return preparation
What You Must Have
- US Citizenship required
- The controller candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
- Primarily in an office environment, with hybrid options available as appropriate, in the Washington, DC metro area. Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries, as well as to potential acquirees to conduct due diligence. Travel requirements expected to be less than 10%. Periodic weekend or evening work may arise.
