This role offers the opportunity to shape the visual feel of a brand-new, unannounced casual game within a highly collaborative, fully remote team. You will be the primary animator, owning the creation of high-quality 2D animations that define gameplay clarity, character expression, and overall player experience. Working closely with the art lead, designers, producers, and developers, you will contribute across the full production pipeline, from concept to in-engine implementation. The role blends artistic creativity with technical execution, requiring both strong animation expertise and generalist flexibility. You will also directly integrate assets into Unity, ensuring smooth performance and visual consistency. This is a hands-on, impactful position in a fast-moving environment where creativity, communication, and adaptability are essential.

Accountabilities:
  • You create high-quality 2D gameplay animations for characters, environments, and core in-game interactions, ensuring fluid motion and strong visual feedback.
  • You produce engaging UI animations and visual effects that enhance gameplay clarity, polish, and player immersion.
  • You design and implement particle effects and 2D VFX to support gameplay storytelling and reinforce game feel.
  • You work directly in Unity to integrate animations and ensure technical compatibility with established pipelines and performance standards.
  • You maintain visual consistency by aligning all assets with the game’s established art direction and style guidelines.
  • You iterate on animations and assets based on feedback cycles, ensuring continuous improvement and production readiness.
  • You support general 2D asset creation when needed, including simple illustrations, icons, and additional visual elements.

Requirements:

  • You have proven professional experience as a 2D Animator in the games industry, supported by a strong portfolio or demo reel.
  • You are highly proficient in Spine, with deep knowledge of animation workflows, rigging, and production pipelines.
  • You have strong skills in Adobe After Effects or similar tools for animation previews and VFX creation.
  • You understand core animation principles such as timing, weight, squash and stretch, and motion clarity.
  • You have hands-on experience working with Unity and implementing animations directly in-engine.
  • You are comfortable creating 2D VFX, including particle effects or hand-drawn effects for gameplay feedback.
  • You are proficient in digital painting tools such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent software.
  • You communicate fluently in English and can work effectively in distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • You demonstrate strong attention to detail and can deliver high-quality work within production timelines.
  • You are adaptable and comfortable working as a generalist in a small, agile team environment.

Benefits:

  • Fully remote-first setup with flexible working arrangements across eligible time zones.
  • Flexible working hours with a strong emphasis on work-life balance and no crunch culture.
  • Generous vacation policy regardless of location.
  • Home office allowance to support a productive remote setup.
  • Access to continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Choice of professional equipment, including MacBook Pro or Lenovo laptop.
  • Monthly meal and wellness-related allowances, including support for health and wellbeing activities.
  • Remote-friendly perks such as virtual wellness sessions, team swag, and home office utility support.
  • Regular company-wide offsite retreats and team events to foster collaboration and connection.
