This position is responsible for preparing meals and serving the meal according to the menu plan in a timely manner, while maintaining a cleanly kitchen and serving area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and serve the daily noon meal.
- Prepare the day’s menu according to the menu plan, get meals ready for other VSS sites that this site provides meals for, package meals for meals on wheels, all in a timely matter.
- Clean up of meal preparation and serving area.
- Clean meal preparation and serving areas according to health standards, follow a monthly, weekly, and daily cleaning schedule on kitchen surfaces & equipment.
- Plan, place, and put away food orders.
- Review menus for each site and plan food orders accordingly. Place orders online within deadlines being aware of special-order timelines. Reconcile invoice with the delivered product and put product away utilizing FIFO. Gather product for other sites per request on inventory delivery days.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position may also be based on occasional performance of the following other functions, which include, but are not limited to:
- Review monthly menu according to USDA and Aging Services guidelines. Collaborate with supervisor about the monthly menus and ensure that each day meets the nutritional guidelines per USDA and Aging Services.
- Assist with registration for congregate and carry out meals.
- Complete month end inventory.
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience working in a restaurant or food service.
Experience with food safety and sanitation guidelines preferred.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
