Responsibilities

Our Enterprise Technology Architecture & Platform Engineering department is seeking Lead Software Engineer. In this job you will:

  • Architect and maintain automated testing frameworks using Selenium, JUnit, and Cypress.
  • Develop internal tools with Java, Python, JavaScript, and Bash/Shell scripting to improve testability and productivity.
  • Analyze codebases to identify and fix quality issues.
  • Collaborate with teams to embed quality, accessibility, privacy, and compliance best practices.
  • Lead integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Utilize AI tools like GitHub Copilot for code quality and test automation.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions with Splunk, Dynatrace, and QlikSense.
  • Manage vendor tools’ installation, configuration, licensing, and compliance.
  • Mentor peers and promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions aligned with quality goals.


Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Backend Engineering: Expertise in Java (Java 11/17) and/or Golang (Go) with strong experience in Spring Boot/MVC/Security for building scalable services and business logic.
  • API Design & Integration: Proficient in RESTful API design using OpenAPI specifications, including authentication (OAuth2/JWT), versioning, error handling, and third-party integrations.
  • Frontend Development: Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React or Angular; solid understanding of UI architecture, state management, and accessibility-first design principles.
  • Cloud-Native Delivery & DevOps: Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and foundational observability practices (logs, metrics, traces).
  • Quality Engineering & AI-Enabled Development: Skilled in embedding automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) into delivery workflows and applying code quality best practices. Experience leveraging AI tools like GitHub Copilot for development and building AI features (LLM APIs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation) with security/privacy guardrails and thorough evaluation/testing.
  • Languages & Scripting: Proficient in Java, JavaScript, Python, .NET, Bash/Shell scripting, and Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Automation & Testing Tools: Familiarity with Selenium, JUnit, Cypress, and AI-assisted test generation technologies.
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure: Experience working with AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Windows Server environments.
  • Databases: Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and DB2.
  • Monitoring & Security Tools: Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, QlikSense, and Senyk for monitoring and security purposes.

Analytical Skills:

  • Root Cause Analysis: Ability to lead comprehensive investigations into complex defects and systemic quality issues affecting multiple teams or projects, driving corrective and preventive measures at scale.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Competence in developing, implementing, and managing organization-wide quality metrics programs, analyzing trends to inform process improvements and strategic decisions.

Soft Skills:

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to facilitate cross-team collaboration and communication among developers, product managers, business partners, and other stakeholders to align priorities and resolve challenges effectively.
  • Advocacy: Strong commitment to quality excellence by mentoring teams, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Customer Focus: Engages closely with business partners to understand their needs deeply and translate them into scalable, high-impact technical solutions aligned with organizational objectives.

Work Arrangements:

HYBRID: Qualified candidates (in or near hub locations listed below) should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office. Hybrid work arrangement for Enterprise Technology is defined as residing within a 180-mile radius of the Hubs and Corporate.

HUB LOCATIONS: Bloomington, IL, Tempe, AZ

  • Potential starting salary range: $120,000 - $125,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
