Job Description:
Nemco Food Equipment is committed to the steel fabrication and on-time delivery to the assembly operations. In this job, you will work in a production environment, working with flat stock of various thicknesses and grades of steel. Punches and laser cutters are used to create the shapes of steel needed by the brake presses to bend into the desired shapes. We use deburring machines to remove any burs and laser welders to join pieces together. No experience necessary as we will have on-the-job training on how to set-up and run the machines.
Schedule:
This is a 3-day, 12 -hour Fri - Sun weekend shift. Work 36 hours but get paid for 40 hours.
You will be expected to work Monday – Thursday 5am to 3:30 pm. for 3-4 weeks during the initial training period. Once productivity and quality goals are met, you will move to your shift (Friday – Sunday, 5:00am-5:30pm, 30-min unpaid lunch).
Key Responsibilities
- Follow work order routings and properly complete associated paperwork in accordance with set procedures.
- Be able to complete all aspects of job set-up, including selecting the program, calculating and applying offsets, reading a print, measuring the part for conformance and applying any adjustments needed.
- Perform first piece inspect of manufactured parts to meet blue-print specifications and tolerances, and adjust setups accordingly to ensure a quality product is produced
- Train new operators in the setup and operation of equipment, as required
- Train to be proficient on various machines with low supervision and or crew leader instruction
- Responsible for communicating to the Supervisor and or crew leader all machine related issues (i.e. machine down or damage to equipment) and or part availability
- Learn the jobs and the Nemco way.
Qualifications
- Ability to set up and operate machinery.
- Ability to read blueprints and to follow specific written instructions and procedures.
- Detail oriented and possess strong time management skills
- Ability to use measuring tools.
- Ability to keep workspace clean and organized.
- Operate forklift safely.
- Experience as a machine set-up and operator in a production environment preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally.
Physical Requirements
Standing: All jobs require standing for the entire shift.
Lifting: Most lifting is less than 10 pounds, Infrequent lifting items weighing up to 80 lbs.
Walking: Frequent walking short distances (less than 1/8 mile).
Carrying: Occasional carrying of bulky items weighing up to 20 lbs. short distances.
Pushing: Use manual hand truck and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.
Pulling: Use of manual hand truck and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.
Bending: Occasional bending required to perform a variety of tasks.
Reaching: Frequent reaching to inspect equipment and make adjustments
Handling: Frequent handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.
Gripping: Frequent gripping of parts.
