Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Benefits Compliance Professional (either Benefits Compliance Counsel or Benefits Compliance Director, depending on candidate background and qualifications) with strong working knowledge of employee benefits/health and welfare plan legal and regulatory compliance matters to join our Agency Growth Team (Corporate team). In this position you will play a pivotal part in fostering growth and unleashing the potential of our people, by supporting the talent development strategies and success of our people that address our business needs and impact the overall company employment experience.
Work Arrangement: This is a full-time remote position. There will be expected travel to team/company meetings and possibly to partner agency locations on an as needed basis.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Advise the company and its agencies on legal matters related to employee benefits compliance.
- Answer questions and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on an ongoing basis to ensure continued compliance with employee benefits laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain current educational materials, such as training presentations, flyers, alerts, newsletters, and checklists for educating agencies, employees, and management about employee benefits laws and regulations.
- Use & maintain a current SharePoint site as a repository for regulatory content.
- Translate complex legal concepts into clear and understandable language, including creation of copy for compliance education & marketing needs
- Assist with compliance projects related to the company’s own benefit plans.
- Research and stay current with the latest regulatory changes related to employee benefits compliance and assess how they may impact the company and its employee benefits clients. This includes monitoring changes to federal and state laws, regulations, and case law, and providing continuing guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with new or changing regulations.
- Other duties and projects assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited law school strongly preferred; candidates with significant directly related experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced legal degree.
- Active membership in the bar of at least one U.S. state preferred.
- 3–5 years of regulatory compliance experience required, preferably in healthcare and/or employee benefits law; candidates with a JD or LLM may be considered with fewer years of experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to analyze legal issues, assess risk, and make sound, practical decisions.
- Advanced legal research and writing skills, including researching and interpreting federal and state regulatory analysis.
- Interest in working creatively and leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, within compliance environments.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to travel to partner agency locations or to team/department meetings as and if needed.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future.

Salary Range: Starting salary of $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
A wide salary range is posted for this position, and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
