About the Role:

The Activities Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by planning, organizing, and implementing a diverse range of engaging activities and events. This position is responsible for creating programs that promote social interaction, physical wellness, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being tailored to the interests and needs of the community served. The coordinator collaborates with staff, participants, and external vendors to ensure activities are inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for all participants. Success in this role results in increased participant satisfaction, improved community engagement, and a vibrant, supportive environment. The Activities Coordinator also monitors program effectiveness and adapts offerings based on feedback and evolving needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in recreation, social work, education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating group activities or events, preferably in a community, healthcare, or educational setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with participants, staff, and external partners.
  • Basic proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and scheduling software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in activity coordination, recreational therapy, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including seniors, children, or individuals with special needs.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to speak a second language relevant to the community served.
  • Familiarity with grant writing or fundraising to support program development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, schedule, and lead a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities that cater to diverse participant interests and abilities.
  • Coordinate logistics including securing venues, materials, and any necessary permits or approvals for activities and events.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community organizations to enhance program offerings and ensure participant safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participant feedback, and program outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and inform future planning.
  • Promote activities through various communication channels to maximize participation and community involvement.
