About This Position
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting operations through general ledger reconciliation, month-end close activities, and financial analysis. This role assists with preparing journal entries, reconciling bank and general ledger accounts, analyzing expenses, and preparing reports to ensure accurate financial records. The position also supports cost data collection related to operational activities and may assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the review and reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts and bank accounts.
- Assist in the month and year-end close activities and G/L account analysis including generation and validation of various month and year-end reports.
- Gather data to determine costs of business operational activity such as maintenance of aircraft, materials used, etc.
- Prepare and post journal entries in the financial system.
- Analyze monthly GL expenses to reclassify variances if warranted and make sure that system entries are booked to the correct accounts.
- Book accruals as needed for month and year-end close.
- Accounts payable and receivable duties may be assigned as needed for team coverage.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven accounting experience and a working knowledge of Ramco ERP (or equivalent financial system).
- Solid understanding of GAAP fundamentals related to AP, payroll, and accruals.
- Possess a control-oriented mindset.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Human Resources, Program Management, Operations, and Maintenance personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to manage volume without sacrificing accuracy.
- Demonstrate strong judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and within a team while demonstrating sound judgment and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the English language with effective communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Senior Accountant in daily work performance.
- Must be able to obtain or maintain US Security Clearance, if required.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC), if required, and not be barred from any installation.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
- CPA and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.
- 6+years of work-related experience incorporate or public accounting, required.
- Experience supporting multiple business units or entities strongly preferred.
- Experience with government contracting a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer.
- Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment with standard lighting, noise levels, and climate conditions.
