About This Position
Description:
This is a temp-to-hire position on the 2nd shift (M-F, 2PM-10PM)
SUMMARY: Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in industrial establishments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Able to proficiently operate a manual mill and lathe.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, dismantles machines or equipment, replaces defective parts and motors, and adjusts feed mechanisms.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose the problem or repair the machine.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, and replaces or repairs machine belts.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Connects wires to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
- Bends, cuts, and threads pipe, cuts openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes, and seals pipe joints with sealing compound.
- Cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves, and other furnishings.
- Patches or replaces plaster or plasterboard and paints walls, ceilings, and trim of the building.
- Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the establishment.
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Clears clogged drains and replaces plumbing fixtures.
- Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
- Performs other routine duties; not all duties are listed.
- Able to work shift work as hired for, and also be “on call” for other shifts.
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
