SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an exceptional Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer to architect and develop next -generation liquid level sensing systems for the world’s most demanding heavy vehicle and off-road environments. This role is intended for a deep technical expert—an engineer who has previously designed sensors from first principles and taken them to production. You will be responsible for the development of advanced sensing technologies including Guided Wave Radar (GWR), Capacitive sensing, and Ultrasonic sensing. These sensors must operate reliably in extreme mechanical and environmental conditions, including severe vibration, wide temperature ranges, contamination, and harsh industrial duty cycles. The position requires a hands-on engineer who can own the sensing architecture from physics through production, including electronics, signal processing, environmental robustness, and system integration. Products developed in Dallas will be deployed globally across construction, agriculture, mining, commercial vehicle, and industrial markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop high-performance liquid level sensing systems from concept through production.
  • Own the end-to-end sensor architecture, including: sensing physics, analog front-end design, signal conditioning, embedded signal processing, system integration.
  • Drive sensor performance in challenging environments with strict accuracy, reliability, and durability requirements.
  • Develop electronics capable of operating in: extreme temperatures ( –40°C to +125°C+), high vibration and mechanical shock, electrical noise and EMI, and chemical and environmental contamination.
  • Design responsibilities include: high-performance analog and mixed-signal circuitry, sensor interface electronics, power management, EMI/EMC-robust designs, and embedded microcontroller systems.
  • Serve as a technical authority in sensing technologies.
  • Drive innovation in measurement techniques, signal processing, and sensor robustness.
  • Perform deep root cause analysis and solve complex sensing challenges.
  • Lead development from initial concept through production launch.
  • Drive engineering rigor including: system architecture, detailed design, prototype development, validation testing, and production readiness.
  • Work within automotive-grade product development frameworks including: APQP, DFMEA / PFMEA, DV / PV validation, and design reviews and reliability testing
  • Support quality systems aligned with IATF 16949.
  • Work with global OEMs and system integrators.
  • Support integration of sensors into heavy equipment and vehicle platforms worldwide.
  • Participate in field validation and performance optimization.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10–15+ years of engineering experience in sensor design or instrumentation.
  • Proven experience developing commercial sensor products from concept to production.
  • Deep expertise in analog and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Strong experience in one or more of the following: Radar sensing (preferably guided wave radar), Capacitive sensing systems, Ultrasonic sensing systems.
  • Industrial or automotive instrumentation.
  • Proficient hand soldering and prototyping PCB assembly.
  • Experience designing electronics for extreme environments, including: wide temperature ranges, high vibration and mechanical shock, and harsh industrial conditions.
  • Experience working within automotive-grade product development processes, including: IATF 16949, APQP, DFMEA / PFMEA, and environmental validation testing.
  • Deep technical engineer, not just a project manager.
  • Comfortable working from sensor physics through electronics and firmware.
  • Able to solve complex sensing problems in difficult environments.
  • Driven to develop highly reliable products that work in the real world.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Development of liquid level sensing systems.
  • Experience with heavy vehicle, construction equipment, or agricultural machinery.
  • Embedded firmware development (C/C++).
  • Automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN).
  • EMI/EMC design and compliance.
  • Signal processing for noisy industrial environments.
  • Functional safety exposure (ISO 26262).
