About This Position

Position Description:

The Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of consumer loans and related credit services. This role includes evaluating creditworthiness, preparing loan documentation, and fostering long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of consumer lending practices within a community banking environment.

We currently have a full-time position available Monday through Friday, working 40 hours per week. Wages start at $50,000 80,000 per annum based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:
Assist customers with consumer loan applications (e.g., auto, personal, home equity, unsecured) in person, online, via email, or by phone
Collect and analyze credit reports, income verification, debt-to-income ratios, and collateral to determine creditworthiness
Prepare and present loan packages to underwriting or lending committees as needed
Stay current with federal and state lending regulations, including Reg Z, Fair Lending, Truth in Lending, and the Bank Secrecy Act
Ensure all loans are properly documented, compliant with policy, and closed in a timely manner
Collaborate with branch staff and marketing teams to generate consumer loan referrals and enhance community presence
Monitor and manage a loan portfolio for performance, risk, and cross-selling opportunities
Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide regular loan status updates
Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED required. An associate or undergraduate degree in finance or related field preferred, but not required
One year experience in a financial institution or loan-related field preferred
Strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet deadlines
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Proactive in gathering borrower information to ensure efficient and timely loan closings
Excellent internal and external customer service and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to identify, solve, and prevent problems
Ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Able to view a computer screen for long periods of time
Must be able to speak and listen clearly both in person and on the phone
Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy
This job may require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently
