Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000-$200,000 per year (negotiable)

Requirements:

Key Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience, with leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hospital operations, financial management, and veterinary regulations.
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and problem-solving skills.

Position Overview: The Medical Director provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for veterinary medical services within the AHP organization. They ensure high standards of patient care, compliance with medical protocols, and effective collaboration between veterinary teams. The Medical Director also plays a key role in supporting hospital growth, operational efficiency, and team development.

Primary Accountabilities:

Clinical Excellence & Medical Oversight:

  • Maintain and uphold high-quality veterinary care, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
  • Assist with development, implement, and refine clinical protocols and procedures to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide case consultations and expert guidance on complex medical cases and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal veterinary regulations, including ethical and legal standards.

Operational Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Partner with the hospital Practice Manager to enhance medical operations, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Monitor key hospital performance metrics, including pet parent satisfaction, patient care quality, and financial health.
  • Work closely with the Practice Manager to align medical priorities with business objectives.
  • Ensure proper allocation of resources, staffing, and medical equipment to maintain hospital effectiveness.

Budget & Financial Management:

  • Contribute to budget planning and financial oversight, ensuring sustainable medical operations.
  • Analyze financial reports and hospital performance data to identify cost-saving and revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Assist in setting pricing strategies for services, treatments, and procedures to maintain competitive and profitable hospital operations.

Team Development & Training:

  • Provide mentorship and professional development for veterinarians and support staff.
  • Lead educational initiatives, including continuing education, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture within the veterinary team.

Pet Parent & Patient Advocacy:

  • Ensure exceptional Pet Parent communication, helping pet parents make informed medical decisions.
  • Address escalated Pet Parent concerns and complex medical cases with expert guidance and resolution strategies.
  • Promote Pet Parent education initiatives to enhance pet wellness and preventive care awareness.

Strategic Growth & Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities for hospital growth, expansion, and new services.
  • Evaluate and integrate advancements in veterinary medicine and technology.
  • Support marketing efforts to enhance hospital visibility and reputation in the community.
