About This Position
The Vice President of Human Resources will report to the COO of the Wolff Resident Experience Company, a standalone Wolff Company organization that is responsible for the Revel Communities brand of luxury independent senior living. This role is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. This role serves as the senior-most HR leader for the Resident Experience Company.
The Vice President of Human Resources will be tasked with supporting a culture where we collaborate and celebrate our team members while creating a meaningful experience. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to try to new things and is comfortable building programs and being innovative – breaking HR stereotypes. This role has full accountability for the end-to-end employee lifecycle and operates as part of a standalone organization. This role has a lot of runway to build an exceptional culture within Resident Experience and Revel Communities.
A successful Vice President of Human Resources will have a customer-service oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills. While it is not required, a background in hospitality or consumer-facing industries is helpful. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and implement strategies and policies to support a culture of continued excellence and development.
- Owning the full HR lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, learning and development, compliance, and offboarding
- Developing HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business objectives, shifting and aligning as necessary
- Developing a talent review and succession planning process, benchmarking, and ongoing team member development
- Working with the community-led Culture Crew to further education and inclusion initiatives
- Supporting the Talent Acquisition team as strategy and efforts are created and implemented
- Developing leadership and skills development programs, as well as helping communities craft individual coaching plans for team members
- Provide support in escalated or complex employee relations issues
- Ensuring HR compliance and risk management across a multi-state workforce, including California-specific requirements
- Develop Revel HR Roadmap in partnership with COO
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of progressive human resource management experience; Master’s degree in Human Resource Management highly preferred
- Experience with non-exempt level workforce, California HR experience strongly preferred
- Must be able to strategically and tactically evaluate and implement HR related programs and initiatives as well as make recommendations and adjustments as needed based on trends and changing needs of the business; One day you may be working on building a Revel Constitution, the next you may be cobbling an off cycle pay process to address an ongoing business need
- Experience creating best places to work and strong results around positive team member relations and engagement
- Be able to work with varying levels of leadership (from Senior Executives to field/line Supervisors) to build consensus around HR strategy and tactics; Challenge the status quo and not be afraid to ask questions
- Have a demonstrated background in leadership management as well as have a proven ability to attract and retain outstanding talent and assemble and motivate high performance teams
- The selected executive must have the ability to bring immediate credibility to the human resources function through their professional qualifications and leadership skills as well as project the highest levels of integrity
- Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills as well as proven organizational skills are required, flexibility and a sense of humor is a must
- Available to travel as needed, with intense ‘bursts’ during varying times of the year or with roll out of initiatives (e.g., training, culture, focus groups, performance management)
