API Tooling Maintainer at Jobgether – India

In this role, you will take ownership of the tools and systems that power a global API ecosystem used across the telecommunications and technology industry. You will ensure the reliability, scalability, and evolution of critical tooling used to design, validate, and publish standardized APIs at a global scale. Acting as both technical steward and community enabler, you will guide contributions, maintain governance standards, and support a diverse set of industry stakeholders. The environment is highly collaborative and international, bringing together major telecom operators, hyperscalers, and technology vendors. You will play a key role in improving automation, reducing friction in delivery pipelines, and enabling faster API adoption. This position combines hands-on technical work with platform ownership, governance, and open-source-style collaboration.

• Own and maintain the health, stability, and performance of the API tooling ecosystem supporting global Open API initiatives
• Define and enforce standards compliance, ensuring alignment with OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, JSON Schema, OAuth/OIDC, and related frameworks
• Act as the technical authority for API tooling architecture, quality, and governance practices
• Review, validate, and manage community contributions across vendors, operators, and partners
• Foster collaboration within an open ecosystem by guiding contributors and ensuring neutral, fair participation
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines supporting API generation, validation, and publication workflows
• Support automation of certification tooling, including CTK (Conformance Test Kit) development and maintenance
• Drive roadmap evolution for next-generation API tooling, including AI-assisted API generation and automation enhancements
• Ensure versioning, traceability, and reliability of all API artifacts across the platform
• Troubleshoot, triage, and resolve tooling issues to maintain stable delivery operations

• Strong experience with API design and standards such as OpenAPI 3.x, AsyncAPI, and JSON Schema
• Solid understanding of contract-first development principles and API lifecycle management
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and Git-based workflows
• Familiarity with API tooling ecosystems, schema validation, and build/release systems
• Ability to debug complex tooling and pipeline issues, including certification and validation systems
• Experience in open-source environments or community-driven technical governance is highly desirable
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work across vendors, engineers, and stakeholders in a neutral capacity
• Ability to identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks in complex delivery pipelines
• Excellent communication skills and ability to facilitate technical discussions across distributed teams
• Experience working in large-scale, multi-stakeholder environments is a strong advantage
