Product Design (UX/UI) Intern at South China Morning Post

About the Team:
SCMP’s Design team are augmented with Design Communications professionals to ensure that compelling, targeted and intuitive messaging is implemented across all marketing communications and SCMP’s suite of products.

Purpose of the Position:
We are looking for Product Design (UX/UI) Intern to join our team in Hong Kong. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on digital products for a global audience alongside a professional design team. We view our internships as a genuine career path; we have a proven track record of interns transitioning into full-time roles and growing within our team.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate: Work on projects alongside other designers to contribute to the overall product vision.
• Problem Solve: Take well-framed problems and generate feasible ideas, explain the rationale, and execute with support from the team.
• Design Support: Assist in designing digital products with a focus on design fundamentals (layout, visual hierarchy, color, and typography).
• Maintain Consistency: Work within the SCMP product style guide to ensure high-quality output.

Skills and Experience that will lead to success:

• Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Degree in design or related discipline.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Figma and a solid grasp of UI/UX principles.
• AI Integration: Experience in using AI tools (e.g., Figma AI, Gemini) to augment the design process or improve workflow efficiency.
• Communication: Able to clearly explain the "why" behind your design decisions.
• Proactive Attitude: A self-starter who looks for ways to add value to the team.
• Growth Mindset: Comfortable with iterative design and open to feedback from senior designers.

Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
