Staff Engineer, Java Testing at Jobgether – India

This role is designed for a seasoned backend quality engineering professional who will play a key part in ensuring the reliability and scalability of complex, distributed systems. You will work at the intersection of automation, backend engineering, and microservices architecture, driving test strategy and framework development from the ground up. The position involves deep collaboration with developers, DevOps, and architecture teams in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment. You will be responsible for building robust automation solutions using Java and REST API testing tools, ensuring high-quality releases across large-scale systems. The role demands strong analytical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot complex backend behaviors across interconnected services. • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend automation frameworks using Java, ensuring robustness, reusability, and long-term maintainability.
• Build and execute REST API automation suites using Rest Assured, validating complex backend workflows and service integrations.
• Test and validate microservices-based architectures, ensuring reliability across distributed and event-driven systems.
• Perform database testing using SQL and NoSQL queries to validate data integrity and backend processing accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, and DevOps engineers to analyze system behavior and identify root causes of defects.
• Integrate automated testing suites into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitLab CI to enable continuous quality delivery.
• Drive continuous improvements in backend quality engineering practices, test coverage, and automation efficiency.

Requirements:

• 5.5+ years of experience in backend automation testing and quality engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in Java with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with REST API automation using Rest Assured.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and testing distributed systems.
• Experience with database testing using SQL and/or NoSQL technologies.
• Proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch in enterprise environments.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI is a plus.
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka or event-driven architectures is a plus.
• Experience in B2B or B2C applications, preferably in FMCG domains, is an advantage.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
