If you thrive in an active, outdoor environment and enjoy helping others, this Park Ranger Technician role offers the opportunity to combine customer service, recreation, and hands-on work in a dynamic park setting. In this position, you’ll support daily park operations while helping ensure visitors have a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience.
As a Park Ranger Technician, you will support operations at multiple City parks and assist with retail, concessions, programming, and general park management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver excellent customer service by assisting visitors in person, by phone, and electronically; provide information on park facilities, programs, and policies
- Operate point-of-sale systems; process payments for retail items, food, rentals, and programs; balance cash drawers and maintain accurate records
- Assist with concessions operations, including food preparation and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards
- Support park programs, special events, and recreational activities
- Help monitor park areas—including trails, playgrounds, shelters, and waterfront areas—to promote safe use and adherence to park rules
- Maintain cleanliness of park facilities, restrooms, grounds, and equipment; assist with trash removal and general upkeep
- Track inventory, restock supplies, and report shortages or losses
- Assist with reservations for shelters, campsites, and recreational facilities
- Support educational programs, interpretive activities, and conservation efforts, including occasional assistance with wildlife care
- Document incidents or accidents and communicate with supervisors as needed
- This may also include assisting with skate park operations, supporting City events, and creating materials to promote park programs.

Required Qualifications:
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Requires a high school diploma or GED. College-level education in a related field such as park management, wildlife management, natural sciences, forestry, business, or leisure services is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Requires a minimum of one year of experience in a park or interpretive visitor center or closely related setting.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City Driving Standards.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
